Radiographic Inspection: This process provides a reliable method of detecting flaws in a wide range of product types which include castings, welds, structures and composites.
It reveals defects such as cracks, inclusions and porosity.
Radiography uses x-rays or gamma rays to produce an image of an object on film. Thus x-ray source is placed on one side of a sample and a photographic film on the other side, an image is obtained on the film of the thickness variations in the sample whether these are on surface or internal.
This technique gives a permanent record.
